Where to Find Temporary Downloaded Files in Windows 7
Hi ismailrazi,
Assuming that your Windows is installed on the C drive. To see temporary Internet files, not only do you have to check 'show hidden files and folders' option in the Folder Options, but also uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files/folders' option.
Follow the steps from the article to show hidden files and folders and also to uncheck Hide protected operating system files/folders.
In Windows 7, the 'Temporary Internet Files' folder is located at:
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

hi there,
i have problem finding the incomplete temporary file of the current downloading file.as you know in the win XP all the temporary files of the web (either browsing or downloading) are stored in the "...\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5" path.but in windows7 i can't find the incomplete temp files of the file being downloaded in the aforementioned path.
please help me about this .
sincerely yours.
W7 and Vista both have a new Low TIF which is not integrated into the TIF Viewer. In order to find stuff in it you can copy the path from your TIF Viewer and then build a cd /d command from it (in a cmd window). Then use a dir/a/s/ta | find | sort | more pipeline to find your latest file accesses in the TIF (internal file name only will show. Note that the operand you use on the find command will depend on your date and time format. I use YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS to simplify the sort; otherwise you may have to parameterize your sort to get equivalent functionality.
An alternative method of finding the same information would be to run ProcMon and check for writes. ProcExp is another tool you could feasibly use to determine where downloads were being written but I don't think it would be as straight forward to find information with it. E.g. you might do a Ctrl-f (Find) for Low\Content.IE5 and be able to detect your write location or if you knew which extension the file would be being saved under you might be lucky and find it with that, etc.
In summary, my short answer would be that you probably can't do what you want the way you want but you can probably work around the (new) deficiency relatively easily.

hi all,
dear aziz it's not my answer, as you may know when you open the temporary intenet files folder directly you'll be directed to a place where there are only some of files have been browsed not all of them.but when you use the "Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5" path you will be directed to the directories where all of the temporary files are stored there(at least its true for winXP).
but in W7 the temporary file of files which are currently are saving is not located in the aforementioned path and i'm looking for that.
dear robert, i must say that i couldn't understand your reply exactly, except that i find out there is a "Temporary Internet Files\low\Content.IE5" path where there is some of the temporary internet files but not those files which are saving to HDD currently, and i am intrested on them.
thanks

If you must try to use the UI to try to see them at least try backing up into the new \Low subdirectory level. E.g. instead of tacking on \Content.IE5 to the path the UI shows you tack on \Low\ and try to proceed from there.

I'm not going to try to teach you to read, so if you have trouble following something that I have written please ask a specific question about what you don't understand or haven't been able to use. The most important idea to get is that in order to see the contents of the TIF you should be thinking of doing it in a cmd window, not in a Windows Explorer UI. Navigating to the TIF using a change directory command (aka CD or chdir) and doing dir commands there has always been possible and in some cases more useful than using the TIF Viewer's special view. Now, because the contents of the new Low subdirectory is not shown by the TIF Viewer IMO it is almost always necessary.
